Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs win in Reading 4-3 today....

as Mike Mooney's 2 run double in the 8th broke a 2-2 tie to make a winner of reliever Waldis Joaquin (3-4). Dan Otero earned his 15th save in the 9th as the Phillies rally fell short.
Bobby Felmy went 2 for 3 with two runs scored including his fourth homer of the season. Brock Bond went 3 for 5 and is now hitting .331. Mooney, who went 2 for 3, did not start the game and replaced EME--don't know happened with EME who only batted once and popped up in the game.
Adam Witter caught today; which I think is his first time behind the plate since coming back from Triple A.

"Down in the dumps" musings.

Nothing else to do, so I decided to check out the NY/Penn league. 14 teams in total. Top 8 in attendance range from 3000+ to 7700+, with Brooklyn leading the way. Bottom 6 from 2300+ to a low of 912..Oneonta.

Jamestown, rumored to be a candidate for relocation to Norwich, in the bottom half. An older stadium seems to be the issue there. Like Norwich, they have a small, but loyal following.

Hurting those fans by taking away their franchise won't help ease my sense of loss when the DEf's are confiscated.

I wonder what long term plans MILB has for Mudville. Hell, it's only Americana.

I Emailed the Reading Eagle writer to see if he could shed any light on EME's early departure yesterday. He couldn't, but did say nothing happened that would suggest it was a discipline issue. Maybe he had a bad serving of Amish the previous evening.
