Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Matt Palmer pitches a gem over 7 innings and

Scott Munter closes out the last two innings for his first Defender save as Connecticut is on the right side of a 1-0 score over the Bowie BaySox tonight. The Defs managed only three hits; a single and double by Brian Horwitz and a Nate Schierholtz double none of them figured in the only run of the game. In the bottom of the 7th walks to Andy Busch and Jake Wald lead to Randy Walter pinch running for Busch and brought up pinch hitter Jon Armitage. Jon hit a grounder to the shortshop who threw to the second base to force Wald but the throw to first was wild and Walter came around with the winning run.
The story was Palmer who had great control allowing only 3 hits and walking just one. He had 7 k's as well. His record improves to 5-3.
That makes three in a row heading into the Father's Day afternoon game.
Misc fan notes: I got a late start up to Dodd tonight and when I turned on the radio around 6:45 there was a rain delay in progress. The front office folks are getting pretty good at the tarp dance. The game got underway around 8:00 and that cut down the crowd some.
Class act shown again by the front office as the ushers were coming around the 6 & 7 inning handing out vouchers for a future game to thank the fans for hanging in thru the rain delay and sticking with the game that long. It's the smart thing to do and all those fans who got vouchers will tell their friends, co-workers, etc.
