Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

B-Mets beat Defs 6-5 with a run in the ninth tonight in

New York. Ben Cox in his first relief appearance takes the loss to fall to 0-5 on the season. Starter Geno Espineli goes 6.1 IP allowing 4 runs, three earned on 7 hits and a walk and getting 6 Ks. Orisis Matos allowed the tying run to come across setting up the stage for the B-Mets to win in the bottom of the ninth off Cox.
The Defs got a first inning HR from John Bowker, his team leading sixth. Travis Ishikawa goes 2 for 4 with a RBI and run scored. Carlos Sosa goes 2 for 4 with yet another double knocking in a pair of runs. Simon Klink got the start at third. EME played left field for the first since last week and Sosa played right for the first time this year.

Love getting my recap in before anyone else.

Anyway you slice it, this team stinks. Clutch hitting doesn't exist, pitching is certainly down a notch from past years, and they are so so playing "small ball." A 15-24 start has them solidly in last place by two games and it's not even Memorial Day yet.

If Def management is truly concerned about attendance, then I certainly hope they are on the phone to the Giants complaining about continually stocking this team with players who have a difficult time competing in the EL. I for one am getting sick and tired of watching lower echelon teams. And i don't want to hear about Player Development. Winning and losing has to be included somewhere in that term, doesn't it?

I've been staying down the beach- no internet til June there.

I think the new kid is going to be a bright spot in the lineup.....he needs some new cleats though, he was slipping all over the place on Sunday.

Belated props to Garrett B. for pitching a great game also.

winning is part of development. This team as a Giants farm club has yet to make the playoffs (since 2002) and this year isn't shaping up much better.
