Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defenders beat Phillies 4-3. John Bowker was

the hitting star going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, a run scored and 2 RBIs. He's raised his average to .326. Mark Mincozzi and Carlos Sosa got the other RBIs. Connecticut scatched out only 7 hits in the game one by starter Geno Espineli.

Geno pitched well going 4 IP allowing just 2 hits, one earned run and notched 4Ks. Brook McNiven got the win and Brian Anderson earned his 4th save.

With EME out, the Defs put Sosa in LF, Pat Dobson in CF and Bowker in RF (no Horwitz?).
TI went 0-4 with 2Ks dropping his average to .127. He's in free fall.

Another big crowd in Reading, nearly 9,000.

Hopefully we can string together a few wins. I'm going to see the Defenders in NH on Tues and Wed. I'm in Boston on Monday so I snagged a cheap room on priceline in NH to catch the games Tue and Wed.

Nate S. is coming up big tonight over on the left coast.

Lincecum tomm. night on ESPN.

Greg, do you think any of the Conn starters have a future as a starter at the MLB level? Perriera, maybe? Doesn't Cox project more as a RP?

He's struggled a bit lately, so I hope it's only a night off for Horwitz. Or do the Giants have a trade in the works?

Maybe he was sent to a Dicks Sporting Goods store to buy a first baseman's mitt!

Got in late and caught the Ryan Howard HR off Tim. Not the greatest debut ever but the hope is there for Giants fans.

Yes I think Perriera could be a starter but is a couple of years away and Cox is a RP.

Brian could get a $10 coupon off a $30 purchase at Dick's after every home game at Dodd toward a purchase off a first baseman's mitt. But seriously, didn't he play a couple of games last year at first in Norwich?

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, that's what I thought. I was kind of going thru the rosters of the higher levels to see what might be there as far as trade bait and, surprisingly little as far as SP. The two older guys at Frseno (Palmer, Kinney) I don't think have a lot of trade value. Blackely could. Perreira,as you point out, is likely too far away. There are several relievers - both on the MLB club and on Fresno that could have value.
After Cain and Lincecum, of course, I think teams would be interested in Sanchez, Wilson, Correia, Lowry, Misch, Taschner, Sadler, Giese - in that order
