Dave McKae and Ryan Sadowski combine on a three hit shutout
and the Defenders win 7-0 in Portland tonight. McKae went 7 IP giving up the three hits with two walks and 3 Ks. He improves to 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA after 4 starts, 3 against the SeaDogs against whom he struggled against last time out.
The offensive star was John Bowker who blasted home runs #10 & #11 going 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs. I'm pretty sure he's the only Defender with two homers in a game this year and he is the first on the team to hit double digits in dingers this season. And I'm sure that totally cements him for the All-Star Game as well.
Carlos Sosa connected for his second HR. Eugenio Velez (CF) goes 3 for 4 with stolen base #24 and a RBI and Jake Wald gets a pair of hits in four plate trips.
A good night all around after last night's meltdown.

Is it too much to ask to have a game (laugher} like this in Dodd once in a while? Glad Bowker got to double digits in HR's or we might have seen the fences moved to Little League distance next year.
Wonder if either of Bowker's HR's were over the "Green Monster" Portland put up at Hadlock?

What is your take on the move of Velez to CF? How was his defense at 2b?

For what it is worth I thought Velez played a good 2nd base. Bowker is over .300 now, way to go kid.
Bowden went a few picks behind Buchholz in the same draft. Mike is only 20, I think he is going to keep ketting better. The Red Sox made a great move taking Buchholz. The kid could pitch in the show tommorow. I like the Sea Dogs, the kids on the team are great competitors and are down to earth. I'm going to go check them out against NB next week.

He was fine at second but admittly I don't have the eyes of a scout.
Kinda thought we might be lucky and one of those games might be NESN........
