Defs lose 11-3 in NB as three CT pitchers get

Some of the bats are cooling off also. Looks like rain this morning. Day game today in NB if it doesn't rain.

The game on 7/18 was tough to watch. The Defenders were kicking butt for most of the game then the bottom fell out. Can't believe they got the game played with the weather, it was raining pretty good to the south and north of New Britain. Webb had a good game, and showed off his arm with a bullet on a close play at the plate. Tyler Von S. hit a nice home run, but Jason Giambi might beat him in the 40.

Even though it has been a tough year maybe one of the kids can step up and throw a no hitter or hit three dingers, or one of the pitchers can jack one out against Harrisburg. A sweep or two in the next few series would be good to raise the spirits of all.

Defenders throw Espinelli tonight at home against the Fisher Cats (Jays). I'm going to see NB/Trenton tonight because Chamberlain is pitching.


Don't forget tomm. is an early start (twinbill)at Dodd.

Cashman was at the New Britain Trenton game last night. If I knew Cozzi was going to jack one I would have went to Norwich instead.

obviously the "e" key on this computer is a bit sketchy.

For those going to NB today the game is at 7:00 and not noon as listed on the defenders and milb sites. It is harley davidson hat night for the fist 1000 fans.

Dave Machamer got fired this weekend as manager of the connecticut defenders.

I travel to almost every home game from New Haven to Norwich instead of going to NB(an extra 30 miles to see the defenders), and Dave was one of the reasons. He was friendly to the fans and had a good presence of the field. Maybe the San Francisco Giants neecd to look at their draft practices instead.

Unless he did something drastic that the public is unaware of, then I think it stinks. They could have waited another few months. I hope his paycheck as a scout is the same.

Keep your head up Dave, you did a good job.
