Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs win a wild one in Harrisburg 9-6 on the 4th of July

and again Tyler Von Schell is the hitting star going 2 for 5 with a solo homer, his third, and a 2 run RBI single to pat the lead. Steve Holm goes 3 for 5 with a pair of RBIs. Mark Minicozzi and Trey Webb (double and a RBI) had two hits each. Eugenio Velez scores a pair of runs, gets a RBI and steals base #29.
Geno Espineli started but only went two innings giving up two runs. Joe Bateman gets the win in relief going 3 innings. Brian Anderson gets his 18th save and probably his most dominant one striking out 3 of the four batters he faced.

I told you Von Schell doesn't deserve to be playing in AA. In my opinion he's too good for here. But I think its good to have a solid powerhouse helping the team now. Plus we need him right now, he's our only actual first baseman, cause all our SS were playing 1B before. LOL

TI is hitting well in SJ. Nate got sent down.

I'm off to see Zink throw the knuckler @ NB.

Any guesses on who the Giants will send to Hawaii this year?

just want you to know i enjoy reading your articles everyday. trey webb is my son in law and i enjoy listening to the games and reading your articles. we are planning on come up from texas to watch him play. how do you think he is doing? he got a really slow start but appears to be coming on really nice. i know he has a rocket arm, never makes an error and is very fast. he just needs to get his average up.what do you think

Hi b,

You said it pretty much all. He's turned into a fan favorite here and a pretty valuable player able to play several different positions well. Maybe he should go to Hawaii?

I remember Webb hovering around the .075 average mark for the first few months, then it was like someone flipped a switch. Glad to see him hitting the ball, and I see he knocked one out since you posted. I would like to see the kid play in Hawaii...I think he is a religious person so the temptations in Waikiki shouldn't pose a problem :)
