Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

New road uniforms for '08?

as the team's web site auctioned off their inventory of black away uniforms as modeled by Justin..

If they are changing the away "unis", I hope they go with the traditional gray top.

Has anyone heard how the installation of the new sod is going? I'm surprised the fence issue did not get re-visited, but I wouldn't want to lay out 60K for only a year or two. City gets no blame from me on this issue.

The Def web site has a pix of the field with the new turf, so I guess my previous question has been answered. Looks like the fences stayed put, which I'm happy about. I'd much rather see players legging out hit into the gap than watching a home run trot. Just have a feeling the fence issue is going to come back and bite all of us who care in the rear.

Greg - I would like to get in touch with you for an opportunity. I am looking for someone familiar with the Giants farm system to do an article for a prospect guide. Let me know if you would be interested. I can be reached at denis @ sandiegosports.net

Man stabbed over unpaid bar tab

Posted Nov. 30, 2007

Norwich (WTNH) _ A man is recovering from a stab wound injured in a argument over an unpaid bar bill.

The stabbing happened in Norwich. Police say 29-year old Jesse Gonazales slashed 23-year old Julian Myrick in the face because he hadn't paid his bar tab.

Gonzalez doesn't work at Hurricane's bar, but is said to be a regular patron there.
That bar tab was for $4.50.

LC....Do you know when the Rule 5 takes place? Thought it would have happened already.

I'm thinking someone may grab GB. Probably the best thing for him.

Just Googled the Rule 5. Giants have Sadler and Bateman available. Sadler is , to me, a surprise.

Bateman was selected by Milwaukee in the minor league phase. Draft was today (thurs).

Never understood the Rule 5. How could Bateman go and Sadler stay?

I guess Sadler's stock has tumbled in someone's eyes.
Good Luck Joe!

How was Sadler protected? He was on the available list I found last week. This Rule 5 is so convoluted, I'm not sure Selig understands it/

He was on the 40 man roster. Maybe the list was erroneous. I'll be back from Hawaii on Thurs :(

Transactions:
San Francisco Giants
The Giants did not offer a 2008 contract to RHP Scott Munter, making him a free agent.

Signed OF Aaron Rowand to a five-year contract.

This will have an impact on Nate and Velez' playing time.

Of the list, hopefully Burriss and Sosa will be in Norwich in '08. I think the rest are a year or two away, which may b too late.

Christ, here we go again. The Giants announced their field staffs for SJ and S-K next year. Decker and Treblehorn will be the respective mgrs and Gary Davenport returns to SJ as hitting coach. Where this leaves Norwich is anybody's guess, but I hope they send someone who's not looking at collecting Social Security in the next ten years. I really liked the idea of Roberto Kelly coming here, but that ain't likely to happen now.

Aw.....what the Hell! I am getting sick and tired of reading all the promo stuff on the Giants Web Site about San Jose and Steve Decker and whoever else. When will this dope, Sabean, realize that AA is usually make or break for prospects and A ball just gets them into Baseball America.

The good news is that in 24 hours the days begin to get longer and the time to opening night is upon us.

Happy Holidays to all.

Yes, the first day of winter does mean the days get longer. Threw that one out at a meeting last year and only one person got it.
And yes it's a disgrace the Giants have not named a manager to Double a CT. It's like we're a total after thought to the parent club. I'm still amazed they have not traded away Cain....yet.

Merry Christmas!

If you like older ballparks you will love Bradenton. In some respects, it reminded me of Fenway (the concession area). This was a favorite stop when I used to do Fla. Enjoy!

This will prove I need a life! It's 2:30 AM and I just researched the EL for next year; the Curve and are beloved Def's are the only teams yet to announce their '08 Field Staffs. Pittsburgh appears to be doing a lot of internal promotions which can explain that delay, but other then not giving a damn, can anyone explain the Giants modus operandi?

Happened to peek at easternleague.com to check the staffs after seeing your post and was happy to see Tony Arnold is going to be the Aeros pitching coach. I had some nice conversations with him back in 06 in Hawaii, it will be great to say hello to him.

Bring back Machemer!
