Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Brute has an interesting post on McCoveys Chronicles regarding bad ball parks for hitters. According to the analysis, Dodd ain't good, but it's not the worst either.

Pretty interesting article from milb.com that is the basis of the post.
And interesting comments from Bowker about San Jose and Dodd. Bowker at one point got his eyes checked! So throwing Augusta into the mix, that's three parks in the SF system that are not "hitter friendly."
Kind of makes me scratch my head that with all the negative posts on McCovey's about Dodd being hitter's hell I don't recall a single bad post about San Jose.
Yeah, Dodd isn't a bandbox but it's not the worst.

The Def's announced on 2/9/08 the fan fest will be held at New London High for the 3rd year in a row. Can anyone explain to me why New London, not Norwich?

No, other then perhaps their thinking is to create a "presence" of sorts in NL. Better there than at Foxwoods or the Sun I guess

Its because the team is trying to create a stronger tie with the shoreline area, from Southwestern Rhode Island to New Haven.

If you recall, last year's fanfest was in the same general area. The strength of the team's ticket base is the immediate Norwich area, probably not extending much further north than Griswold or going further west than Bozrah or east of Voluntown, maybe North Stonington.

Essentially the team is looking for people to expand its fan base.
