Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Solid pitchers on the 2007 Defenders staff......who goes where is probably going to boil down to politics. If I remember correctly Dave faltered a little toward the end of 07. I think Geno would be the first to go to AAA, with a healthy Hinshaw the first to the bigs. Hendrick and Matos could pitch in the show this year if there is any justice. Anderson needs to get more confidence and he'll be up too.

I think the pitching is a lot stronger than the hitting, perhaps some prospect swaps might be in order.

I think Dave returns, Geno and Hinshaw go to Fresno and Hendrick and Matos begin 2008 in Norwich.

I keep forgetting to leave the "n" out of Hedrick. Given Hinshaws issues they should start him in the Cal league for the first few weeks so he doesn't have to pitch in the cold.

Unless the Giants have released a bunch of pitchers from last years Minor league rosters, they very well may have to. What do you do with the aging (mid 20's & up) pitchers who are still in the minors? McKay, GB, Begg, Cox, Sacks, Hendrick, etc are going to be pushed by the younger guys looking for promotion. There seems to be an excess of pitching this year, more so then previous years.

I posted something similar to this earlier, but it didn't go thru. If it appears, my apologies for redundant thoughts. Or it could be this damn IMac.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Some folks will inevitably get the blade before they break camp.

I predict that four guys from Trenton 2007 will make big contributions in the Bronx this year- Marquez, Horne, Kennedy, and Chamberlain....

Austin Jackson (cf) will probably start in trenton, catch him while you can. Tabata probably too.

Also, watch for Argenis Diaz in Portland some time this year, awesome young shortstop. The Sea Dogs play in CT the first week, should be good. According to the Dogs pitching coach (saw him in hawaii) Masterson and Bowden will start the year in Maine. Bubba Bell? I don't know but I would like to see him start in AA.

Sad to say but there is a bit more interesting stuff player-wise going elsewhere in the league. I hope someone like Minicozzi steps up and steals the EL show.
