Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Seeing a spring training pic posted by GF9

on his blog of Merkin Valdez made me wonder if a return to Dodd is in his future.

Hey Greg!! How have ya been? I had to make a new account cause I couldn't remember my password to VonSchell28, lmao. So I think with all your predictions here, I think we should have a contest. We all make our idea of who is going to be on what teams this year, and when the rosters come out see who is the closest correct. I may do that later, even if you guys don't wanna. hehe

SFG Spring training-
Velez is playing second and third base, Ishikawa, Pichardo, holm, getting some PT. Anderson had a rough go.

Too lazy to leaf through the organization to guess who lands where, plus teams play favorites and talent often doesn't dictate.

I will say this though, the guy who deserves more respect out of the pen is O. Matos. I like Hedrick too. Not to take anything away from the other guys.

Anyone have a line on Travis Denker? 2B who might be headed our way? Had a nice game with the bat todaY.

Denker came over from the Dodgers last August for Mark Sweeney. He was in his fifth season of pro ball last year before finally rising to High-A ball in the Cal League. He has decent career numbers (.280/.379/.461), but because of how long it took him to get those numbers and his size (although he's strong, he's listed at 5'9" which is pretty generous), he's not exactly a prospect at this point. He should definitely be in CT this year, and my guess is his OPS drops by about 100 points against career numbers.

Denker

Ex Dodger farmhand. Hasn't been above A ball yet. Minor League career average .289. Had a one game appearance with LA in 2006, went 1 for 4.

This, according to Google.
