Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Baysox 3 Defs 2 as Bowie takes the rubber game of

the 3 game series and Connecticut finishes the homestand with 4 wins and 3 losses and is back to .500 with 20 games played.
Defs scored in the first on a Kyle Haines single and a TI double with one out. Simon Klink then walked but Carlos Sosa K'd and EME flied out to end the inning. As is their wont, Connecticut would immediately allow the other team to score in their next at bat. Starter Brooks McNiven, who had nothing tonight, gave up a single, double, and a two run RBI single for a 2-1 Bowie lead with no outs. The runner on first stole second and advanced to third on the catcher's throwing error and came around on a RBI single for a 3-1 BaySox lead.
Connecticut would cut into that in the fifth with a Antoan Richardson triple off the center fielder's glove and a RBI ground out by Haines. Connecticut would threaten in the 8th with back to back 2 out singles by Sosa and EME but Ben Copeland hit a tapper in front of the plate to the catcher for the third out.
As usual the bullpen threw well; Ryan Sadowski (2 IP), Steve (JP) Palazzolo (2 IP) and Sergio Romo (1 IP) shutting down the BaySox and as usual the Defs had more Ks (9)than hits (7)in the game (tip of hat here to Hondo on spotting that trend).

Misc fan notes: Connecticut with a scheduled day off Thursday before starting a three game set in Reading on Friday. Another day off on Monday and then the Yankees come to town with the Trenton Thunder for three games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm looking forward to those games a bunch.
It's official, I hate the sumo wrestling between innings promo.

Hey, just caught your update. I listened in on the net tonight, interesting interview with Hedrick to start things off. He got bit by a funky mosquito in Venezuela over the winter and got all messed up.

D's have a chance at gaining some ground this weekend. D's take on Phils, and the Sea Dogs take on the BMets, led by Mike Carp- Carp has 5 dingers and is hitting .442.

D's are now 4.5 games out, tied for 3rd place.

How about these team stats?
Team BA Defs; .216
Next Akr .229

Team OPS Defs: .615
Next Bowie .698

Slg Ave
Defs .309
Next NH .338

OBP Defs .306 2nd from last!
Bowie .300

K's Defs 187
next Bingo 156

Pitching: Defs now #2 behind Trenton, but ERA could be misleading because of all the unearned runs they have give up.

And in 12 home games I've scored, K's have exceeded hits in 8 of the games,

I think it's safe to say the "O" needs some help.

Sahm-

the sumo wrestling is a between inning event where people dress up in large padded suits and try to belly bump each other to the ground.

D's need to stop striking out so much. D's are facing Carpenter tonight in Reading- decent chance for a win.
