Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs, SeaDogs tied at 7-7 going into the 12th...

Connecticut tied it up in the ninth on Adam Witter's solo HR, his fourth of the season. Connecticut starter Dave McKae went 5 IP issuing six walks and two hits along with three runs, all earned. Ronnie Ray came in and was a diaster giving up four runs in an inning plus five batters allowing 6 hits and 2 BBs. Ray seems always to flirt with trouble and this time it caught up to him. The bullpen of Kelvin Pichardo, Sergio Romo and Jason Waddell have shut down the SeaDogs for five innings now.
Run producers for the Defs have been Kyle Haines in his first start going 3 for 6 with a double and RBI. Adam Witter with 2 RBIs. Carlos Sosa, EME, Simon Klink and Ben Copeland (2 for 5, triple) all have a RBI each.
Long day tomorrow for me--I'm crashing. Be at Dodd tomorrow with a buddy of mine--Strat!!!!!!! that I have not seen for a bit with Reading in the house. Should make Friday's game as well then work takes over for a bit.

Well, they lost in 17 innings 8-7 as Simon Klink took the mound and walked the first batter he saw and then gave up a game winning double the to next. Connecticut runs out of pitchers and puts a position player on the hill! Thta's 4 in a row as they get swept by Portland and are 1-5 against them this season.

Tonight could be ugly. First, figure they got home around 4 or 5 this AM. and who's pitching? Martinez not listed on the roster and if they continue not to pitch guys in back to back games, only Hedrick and Romo available from bullpen.

The position player the Dogs put in was throwing knuckleballs and was effective over two innings. He was the same cat who stroked the game winning double.

Ben should have brought in Travis I., the first batter was a lefty :)

Defenders are in 5th place, with four effective opposing pitchers coming up this series.

Jeff Natale went 3-5 with a single, double, and a triple for Pawtucket in his AAA debut.

Sorry to hear that the long game didn't go in our favor. But Simon pitching?

Quick question? What is Kyle Haines' number this year.

I have been a fan of Kyle's since he first showed up in San Jose in 2005. Never seems to get enough playing time, but was contributing in game 5 when the SJ Giants won the Cal League last year.

On a side note, I have linked to your last couple of blog posts on the SJ Giants fans site. Thanks for the posts and keep up the good work.

Damn, missed Romo in last nights recap. Hedrick only one in bullpen not used last night. Sure means one or two will pitch two nights in a row. Anyone hear yet who's starting tonight. If he's ok, Chris Begg would be nice.
