Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs win 5-4 this afternoon......

thanks to a four run sixth inning that broke a 1-1 tie. Kyle Haines (2 for 4, double) drove in two runs with a single after a Reading error kept the inning alive. Simon Klink delivered a pitch hit infield single in the inning as well.
Adam Cowart goes six inning allowing one earned run for the win. Ryan sadowski had a shaky top of the 7th as the Phillies scored three runs, two earned to draw to 5-4. Osirus Matos shut Reading down until the ninth when Sergio Romo gave on to nail down the save with his league leading sixth save.

Misc fan notes: Was at work today and listened to three innings including the rally. Connecticut GM Charlie Dowd was in the radio booth and sounded pretty good. He touched on the all-you-can-eat Thursday promo and said they sold twice as many tickets for it this past Thursday then for the first one. I've heard unofficially that 80 of these tickets were sold for the April 16th game. I can see a Thursday this summer where running out of food might be an issue.

The big deal of the day, for me anyway (other than the two for one aluminum bud bottles), was watching Cowart pick the same dude off first twice. To top it all off, the same kid also got thrown out trying to steal while Cowart was in. Cowart's funky style is a big plus in keeping runners honest. The first pick he had him leaning the wrong way, the second was close but it went our way.

Maroul is starting to hit his stride at the plate. The Haines kid is looking sharp also. I checked his numbers and he has a history of putting the bat on the ball. Although the Phils starter on Sat. wasn't one of their better ones, I hope the D's can carry the offense into today's game.

Romo came up huge to close it yesterday by the way. He was bringing the gas.

We went to the Rockcats Thunder game after, left after top of the tenth. I'm a big Austin Jackson fan.

found a top notch thunder blog, you should exchange links with the dude.
