Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

EL schedule making is for the birds....

it's bad enough we play the B-Mets 12 times in May including three out of four home series but I'm sure RockCat fans love this from today's Courant:

"The Eastern League season is only a month old, but the Rock Cats are ready for some new faces in the opposing dugout. They've faced the Portland Sea Dogs seven times and their game against the Trenton Thunder today is their eighth against the Yankees affiliate. When they return from a seven-game trip Friday, they'll face the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The Rock Cats have won four of five against New Hampshire as they meet for the third series in the young season. And they'll see each other again a week later in Manchester, N.H."

A roster move from today's New London Day:

"Prior to the game, the Defenders announced that right-handed pitcher Ryan Sadowski was promoted to Triple-A Fresno of the Pacific Coast League. Sadowski appeared in nine games, compiling a 1-0 record with a 3.27 earned run average.

Paul Osequera, a lefty who has been sidelined during the early part of the season with a finger injury suffered in spring training, will join the Defenders.

Osequera was 10-6 with a 3.54 ERA at Single-A San Jose in 2007."

Now does Osequera go into the roation replacing McNiven or Martinez?

I think it's spelled "Oseguera". Maybe he'll start out in the bullpen since he's just getting back.

Sadowksi started for Fresno against the red hot Bees (20-1)-
1.1 ip, 8 hits, 3 walks, 5 runs. He was helped in the first by a caught stealing and a guy getting caught between the bases. Not a good day.

Hinshaw gave up his first run yesterday.

I wonder if this was this just a "spot" start for Sadowski and he's coming back? Palmer did something like this last year as he came back from Fresno to start a game for the Defs.

misch got the call today, as correia was placed on the 15 day dl...looks like sadowski may be there for a bit...unless it was cuz sadowski is the only defender who is somewhat ready and rested...i would prefer to have seen garrett get the call, but sadowski had to pitch today, and got pounded by slc (best team in all of pro ball...only has lost 1 game)

Oseguera is officially now the best pitching prospect in the Defenders' rotation.
