Sergio Romo's first Defenders save 4-3-08
Sorry folks but my memory card filled up before strike three!
Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

God darn, I think it's working! Before this system goes cuckcuckoo again, my thoughts on the DEFS!
.Last night was too damn cold.
.I think Bien F is going to do good
.The relief pitching appears to be solid, starting pitching a bit weak. I wonder what will happen when teams see Cowart a 2nd or 3rd time?
.Offense looks woeful, but the guys from the A leagues need time to adjust to the higher caliber pitching in the EL. As does the rest of the league.
.Defense looks weak, especially without a true shortstop.
.EME still stinks.
.I just hope this team will contend and not be esconced into last place by May 1st.
.I can't wait for our computer to get out of sick bay. This laptop sucks!

do your homework. trey webb is a true shortstop. he was all everything at baylor at ss and was drafted as a ss in fifth round of 2003. he has a rocket arm and almost never makes and error. he played second for the defenders last year but his real position is shortstop

He played a lot of OF last year as well. He didn't play much SS if any LY.

Olmo Rosario will wind up getting more at-bats at short than Webb. They'll open splitting time, but whoever plays better will win out. And of course it's possible Bocock winds up out here too.
It's worth noting that only one of the six hits against Cowart cleared the infield in the air.

I want it noted that my comment about Rosario was BEFORE this afternoon's game! :)
