Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

.............ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.............

Well I left after 9 innings with things tied and as I'm typing this Travis Ishikawa just went yard for a 2-1 walkoff homer in the bottom of the 11th to beat the SeaDogs.
Before that not much offense except for Olmo Rosario who went 4 for 4 with three stolen bases and scored the other run on a Carlos Sosa goundout in the sixth. Rosario has a nice Dodd swing, just serving the ball out there working the pitch.
Brooks McNiven started his first game of the season throwing 6 shoutout innings and giving up just one hit, striking out three and walking three. Ryan Sadowski gave up the tying run in the 7th. Osiris Matos went two innings and Sergio Romo gets the victory in relief by working the top of the 11th.

Misc fan notes: Tough night for Simon Klink with 4Ks as the Defenders stuck out 15 times in 11 innings. And the bats remain quiet for the third straight game. EME rested tonight. Another small crowd of a couple hundred or so on a cold night.
Great seeing Lance tonight after the long winter!

Just to clarify I believe Greg's ZZZZZzzz....... describe his state of alertness when posting and not the game- I stuck it out and witnessed the nice finish thanks To Travis Ishikawa. Brooks pitched great, and the pen kept it close enough to pull it off in the end.

Rosario is rippin' it up- 4 for 4 with 3 stolen bases. Antoan Richardson had a few rough at bats but he's going to be a nice leadoff man for this club.

True that Klink had a tough night but I'd rather he do it on a night when TI picked up the slack. We need Klink's experience, and he'll have plenty of time to even out his numbers.

Nice job by Jeff Natale for the Dogs, entered the game with a .500 obp and reached safely in all 4 plate appearances.

Bowden isn't starting for the Dogs Wed. so I'm at a loss as to who is. Cowart for the Def's I think.

Defenders (all home games so far) and Portland (all road games)are tied for 1st at 4-1.

Nice job by TI, maybe a sign of things to come. I too left after the 9th. Would have stayed if it wasn't so damn cold. Probably going to miss tonight...too much to do getting ready for the weekend's business.
