Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs 1 B-Mets 0 as CT. wins 4th in a row...

as a Ben Copeland triple and an Olmo Rosairo groundout produced the only run of the game. Connecticut would only get two hits in the game the other being a Rosairo single. Joey Martinez, Steve Palazzolo and Osiris Matos combine on a six hit shutout. Martinez improves to 2-3 and Matos gets save #3 in a game that lasted just over 2 hours.

Misc fan notes: Hondo reports that Sergio Romo (knee sprain) and Paul Oseguera (fingernail) are both on the DL but expected back soon. lc reports that pitchers Nate Bump and Josh Sharpless are both with the team. Thanks for the info!

How did the uniforms look?

Uhhhhh .... Uni's looked pinkish. Combination of white and pink, but that's all I remember. This PM, will write out a complete description and post tonight if no pix appear in the papers.

What is with the Giants? Bump out of baseball last year and Sharpless was in the Indy's (but has a major league background) I wonder if this is pulling pitching from the scrap heap or are they from a super duper secret cache the Jints have hidden away for emergencies.

Kid that pitched for Bingo was good as was the reliever. Maybe Bingo pitching came with an attitude and are saying to the Defs, "we ain't as bad as we looked last week"

Skip, Sharpless was on Indy (pirates AAA), not in the Indy leagues. The Bucs cut in the Spring. Did the Ms. enjoy the game last night?

I'm assuming we'll see Bump or Sharpless in relief today. Should be interesting.

One comment about the pink jersey auction. Wouldn't the bat and jersey auctions get more action if they weren't all pink? A Jersey or regular bat with a small pink ribbon would probably have wider appeal and therefore raise more money.

Hinshaw continues to pitch great in AAA. I don't know what the lefty reliever situation is in SF, but Alex belongs in the bigs.

My grandma and I will celebrate later in the week, so I get to hit the game today followed by a night of indian gaming and Marshall Tucker in the Wolf Den.

Skip, could you believe- I won the pape airplane toss! Man am I stoked. I came close one Sunday last year and I was bummed that I couldn't get it done when the game was on the line. Today I put a little thought into the plane design, and I got lucky. I may save the tickets for one of my baseball trips. A big pick me up after the loss today.

As far as the game goes, the D's have 4 hits in the last two games, and that's coming off a 16 hit game. Ouch. 3 sb's for antoan though, that was great. Everybody pitched well today.

Any word if you guys won any shirts? I didn't bid, I'm not too crazy about the pink jersey.

Greg, shoot me an e-mail to lanceehct at aol.com and I'll e-mail you some pictures from today's game.

Report from the Dodd:

1) LC, Congrats. That's awesome.

2) Unis: White shirt with pink sleeves. the number is pink and bordered with either black or blue. Defenders in front pink with a dark background. Pink piping where the shirt buttons. Dark pink ribbon on sleeves..don't know if it's one or two sleeves. They look sharp.

3) the batboys who's impressed us is named Jarrod.

4) LC recapped the game.

5) Lastly, I went to bid on Joe Palooka's jersey and discovered someone beat me too it! Sounds like the fix is in. Anyways, I went to my 2nd choice and put a bid on the shirt of another member of the left handed hitting first basemen fraternity.

Bids were still open on shirts after the game, so don't know who won what.

Nice story line from SF. Steve Holm's 2 run HR in 7th wins game for Giants against Phillies. Also, Bowker 2 for 3 in the game and his BA has started to climb again.

Great story with Holm. He was a relatively low draft pick so it's nice he's getting the decent game checks.

I personally did't think he'd be rocking and rolling with the big club already. I didn't expect Bowker to go ahead of Nate S. either.

I sent a picture of Bump to your email Greg.

Velez was no surprise. The fact that Hinshaw is still in AAA is a surprise.
