Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs drop rubber game in NB 10-6 tonight..

and drop to a game under .500. Garrett Broshuis get pounded for 11 hits and 7 runs all earned in 5 IP. The bullpen of Josh Sharpless and Ronnie Ray give up three runs as Jason Waddell was the only reliever with a clean line in his two innings of work.
Olmo Rosairo goes 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles and a RBI. TI knocks in a couple of runs with a 1 for 3 night. Adm Witter goes yard, a solo homer #8 on the season. EME gets an OF assist at home and goes 0 for 5 with a RBI.
Connecticut pushed across three runs in the 9th to make the score respectable.

One of the things that is really beginning to p... me off is the Norwich Bulletin. They can't have live coverage at New Britain? Joe Perez, as far as I know, is the "beat" writer for the Defs, but he has had prolonged absences this entire season. And this is not a criticism of Joe, but his editor (or whomever hands out assignments). This is a blatant example of the Bulletin ignoring the Defs. If the Bulletin isn't there, then who is going to keep the paper's readers abreast of the goings on at Dodd, hopefully creating enough interest for some of the locals to get to the ballpark.

The chances for this franchise to be around much longer aren't very good and many will share in the blame, including the Bulletin.

I HOPE THAT I AM READING THIS WRONG. YOU WANT JOE PEREZ TO TRAVEL ON THE ROAD WITH THE DEFENDERS???? I HOPE THAT HE IS NNNNOOOTTTTT DOING THIS---FOR A FEW REASONS:

#1---THEY ARE NOT THE YANKEES / RED SOX / THEY ARE A "AA" MINOR LEAGUE TEAM

#2--THEY ARE A MEDIOCRE MINOR LEAGUE "AA" TEAM

#3---MY SUBSCRIPTION RATE WOULD GO HIGHER THAN IT ALREADY IS

layback

What's the difference if he goes to New Britain or Dodd? I'm not suggesting sending him to Akron.

I know who they are and you should too, better then I. They are your home town team and it's irrelevant who they are a farm team of.

If a trip to New Britain is going to raise your subscription rate, I'd write an OP ED piece raising Hell about the cheap SOB's at the Bulletin.
