Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

If you get a chance, check out Garrett Broshuis'

latest blog post (link on right). It's a good one about off-field life in the minors but sent me back instantly to memories of my two (very different) college roommates.

Now normally I withold any negative thoughts about any ballplayers and offer nothing but encouragement, but being an avid republican first and an avid baseball fan second, I feel the need to point out that the other team is batting .326 against GB.

The beauty of America is that more often then not we are able to dictate our own destiny......start dictating.

Well said LC. Other then EME, I try to follow your practice by not dumping on players, but this had to be said. Of course, as a lifelong independent, I guess it's easier for me to play both sides of the street!

GB's line season to date:

2-3 in 7 games 4.04 ERA
35.2 IP, 46 hits 22 runs 16 earned
9 BBs, 19 Ks 5 HRS...
and as lc points out .326 BA against

Hittable and a lot on runners on base. Best outing was his first start this season.

Darn. My bad, I came home all liquored up last night.

Sorry GB.

-------------------

I went to the NB/Bowie game yesterday morning- it was awesome. Lots of homers and a zillion school kids in attendance singing "sponge bob square pants". I also liked that while the house was packed, the lower levels were empty.

I did see the worst scoring of a hit ball ever. Nettles hit a ball up the middle in his last at bat, the shortstop barely got a glove on it and it continued on into center. Clearly a base hit. I checked the box score on line, and I noticed they scored Nettles last hit an error. MILB Audio Archives the games and you can go back and listen anytime (great feature), so I did to get the broadcasters view. He simply stated base hit up the middle off the glove- no debate whatsoever. The long and the short of it is that a three hit game with a homer looks better than a two hit game with a homer when the personel guys look through the daily results. The kid got hosed.

I just cancelled my room at the Indians as a rainout is likely tonight. Too bad, I was looking forward to a great game against the hard hitting B Mets tonight. I'll keep an eye on the game status anyway.
