Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Six in the sixth! Defs win 7-2 over the FisherCats..

in N.H. tonight. David Maroul started the scoring in the 6th with a solo homer and ended the Connecticut scoring in the 9th with another solo blast (numbers 4 & 5 on the season). In between those homers the Defs used a pair of triples, one from Simon Klink (2 RBIs) and one from Adam Witter (RBI)to go along with RBIs in the sixth from Ben Copeland, EME (God, his BA is .304 now with tonight's 2 for 3)to make the score 6-2.
Garrett Broshuis improves to 3-3 (3.46 ERA) with 6 IP: just 4 hits, 2 unearned runs and 4 Ks. Pichardo, Hedrick, and Ray all throw a scoreless innings each.
And as Hondo pointed out some strange stuff going on in the Defs outfield.

As lc pointed out the games on radio are archived on milb.com. The radio guys suggested EME started the game in RF because of the sun field at the start of the game plus a shorter field in RF. Both radio guys were in NH also.

Of course both runs score on a double to right field. The recap shows NH had runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. The unknown is did the guy on 1st score on EME's arm (lack of) or would he have scored on Copeland too. Was anyone listening to the game who might share the announcers take on the play?

Skip you can go back and listen to it on milb.com if you are so inclined. Click the speaker on the scoreboard page.

Huge game for Garrett B. The pen kicked butt also.

Maroul had 20 dingers in SJ last year- all five of his dingers this year have been on the road.

EME hitting .357 on the road.

Defenders only 4 games out of first. Go big blue!

Portland beat Trenton today, 16 runs scored in all, only 5 of them earned. One dude booted three balls. A win by the D's pulls them within 3 games of first.

eme has saved his career so far this season...he still has no defensive skills to speak of, but he might very well interest al teams who would love to have a long term dh possibilty in their ranks....and im happy for garrett finally getting run support in his starts...there may be some serious need for real starting pitching in fresno pretty soon...hope garrett gets the promotion

go to the ct defenders website and click on the audio link. that is probably the easiest. You can click on the home (WICH) or the visitors broadcast. You need to enter an email address and make up a password the first time, and write it down somewhere for the next time you want to listen. Let us know how you make out.
