Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs snap 6 game losing streak behind TI's ...

4 RBI game as Connecticut beat the Thunder 5-3 tonight. In the bottom of the third with the Defs down 1-0, Kyle Haines drew a one out walk. Ben Copeland then singled and both runners moved to second and third on a wild pitch. TI then doubled just inside the right field line to score both runners. In the bottom of the fourth with the scored tied EME walked and came around on a Antoan Richardson RBI single. In the bottom of the seventh with the game tied this time at 3-3, Haines would walk again and TI then homered to the opposite field to complete the scoring at 5-3.
Steve Palazzolo won in relief improving to 4-1 with a 2.62 ERA. Osiris Matos picked up this 6th save of the season.

Misc fan notes: Thunder Jose Tabata left the game in the first after being hit on the left forearm by a Nate Bump pitch with the bases loaded. Tabata was the second of two batters hit by the Connecticut starter. Bump went 4 IP giving up 4 hits, 2 runs and issuing three walks and slowed the game to a crawl.
I like Kyle Haines who went 1-3 with three walks and scored twice. Kid is a player. EME went 2 for 3 with a slice double down the right field line.
Matos saved this game because Sergio Romo is on the DL again.

Actually, per the CT website, Romo's never been *off* the DL since the knee injury. Still the knee, or something new?

I agree with you about Kyle and it is great to see that he is finally getting regular playing time.

In three years at San Jose, he was always the kid on the bench. Though in game five of the Cal League Championship he started and provided a key hit.

Kyle is a very good kid on and off the field.

I just read on JP's blog that the CT groundskeeper Mike Cannistra got a gig with the NY Mets....nice!

Hm, Romo's hopefully off the DL now - as he's pitching per MiLB as I type this ... :-)
