Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs take road opener 4-2 over B-Mets tonight..

as Jake Wald knocks in two runs with a pair of doubles to pace the attack. In the second inning down 1-0 Pablo Sandoval (2-3) singled for his first Double A hit and came around on a EME RBI single. Jake then brought EME home with his first double for a 2-1 Connecticut lead.
In the fourth a Adam Witter walk (Witter makes his fielding debut at firstbase tonight) and back to back RBI doubles by Carlos Sosa and Wald made the score 4-1.
On the mound Dave McKae (6-4) went five innings giving up one run. Brooks McNiven pitched three innings of no hit ball and handed off the game to Osiris Matos to close the game. Matos didn't have it tonight giving up a run on three hits and a walk. Kelvin Pichardo came on with the bases loaded and one out and gets an infield fly and a strikeout to end the game for his third save this season.

Misc fan notes: With Paul Oseguera on the DL it's good to see McKae having a good outing. Interesting that Bien goes to Witter at first tonight instead of Klink (I'm assuming Klink is still on the team) as both are lefty batters as Klink is a switch hitter. Wondering if Pablo will play at first at some point in time.
Looking forward to Ben Snyder's debut.

Interesting goings on in San Jose.

Tom Clifton, the Editor of the SJ Fans blog has been banned from the stadium for a post he made on June 10th. The post is critical of the teams Web site, but on the surface does not appear all that controversial. But it rubbed someone wrong.

SJ subcontracts the Web Site, similar to the Defs. Some of Tom's complaints of the SJ site could be echoed here too, but I'm not getting on that horse. I've never been banned and don't intend to start now!

The thing is SJ is beyond crazy. Just can't understand that on face value for all the tea in China.

Regarding SJ, my guess is this was a long ongoing situation and the team finally had enough.

Checked Fresno's stats. JP getting kicked around a lot. Has the highest ERA on the team. Gino has the lowest.

lol....banning a blogger...thats funny....not a auspicious first start for snyder...despite the 4 ks in 3.1, he got hit hard, including a 3 run dinger...lets hope he got those movin up jitters out of the way and its only positives from here on out...and dont be surprised if gino gets a call up to the big club pretty soon...looks like the only ex defender who will be left to rot in the minors is nate
