Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs use the long ball and beat N.B. 5-2 tonight..

as Carlos Sosa's three run homer in the sixth, his seventh of the season, was the game winner. Carlos went 3 for 4 on the night Connecticut took a 1-0 lead in the third on Olmo Rosairo's solo shot, his 4th of the year. Eliezer Alfonzo added an insurance run on a RBI douuble scoring Ben Copeland who had hit his league leading 9th triple.
GB pitches another good game improving to 6-5. Broshuis goes 7 IP allowing two earned runs on 5 hits, two BBs and notches 3 Ks. Osiris Matos gets his 7th save.

Alfonzo has a gun, I never saw him before. I like the way he plays- he took contol out there Friday night....He took a healthy cut with two strikes also.

Three out of our four Dominicans delivered last night.

On another note, I was thinking that Mark Minicozzi might be in SF (instead) of Denker right now had it not been for the inury...He came off a good finish in SJ and had a good spring. if anybody has an update on his status I'd appeciate it.

Don't forget....Every home Monday, all Reserve tickets will be priced according to the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline. Dollar dogs & they're playing the Red Sox AA club- I hope the word gets out.

A few things of note from last night. Olmo's HR was a bomb.. over the Good Sports billboard (third tier) in left field. Klink is going to be an adventure at first.
His errant throw to Broshuis in the 6th damn near got GB killed. Later in the same inning, GB's wild pitch came right back to Witter and his perfect throw to GB covering the plate got runner trying to score for the 3rd out. Good, tough baseball play.

The crowds have been improving lately, but it's probably to late to save the franchise.

I wouldn't say it's too late. What needs to happen is a good old fashion sit down, and display everything good and bad that have happened the past three years. Yes there are things that haven't been great. Playing wise, back wall not brought in. But there have been improvements too. Team hasn't hit last place yet, been steady in 3rd/4th. Attendance were not in last place for anymore. Re sodded. plus I'm sure there is alot more im missing or havent heard of on both sides. Basically we just gotta wait it out and see what happens. No matter what we get a AA team next year wheither its Giants or not.

Missed this................ Brian Buscher is back with the Twins and has played in 10 games. In 34 AB's, he has a .353 Average, 12 Ribbies, and -0- K's. Not a big sample, but could he be another gigantic Giant goof?

Bacci, thanks for the info, buy I'll believe it when I see Sandoval and frankly, I personally would prefer a first baseman.

Update on Sumo wrestling, Saturday night it caused another game delay, but not as bad as Friday. Today was better,,, they did not have it.
