Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Joey Martinez is now on the EL (on-line) All-Star

ballot! Last week I emailed Brian Irizary who said he was contacting the EL league office about why Martinez wasn't on the on-line ballot since the EL office is in charge of All-Star balloting. I just looked at the ballot and Martinez is on it; pretty amazing.

There was a rain delay in Trenton and the game has picked back up with Connecticut up 5-3. Ben Copeland has knocked in a pair of runs with a double and groundout. Carlos Sosa has hit a solo homer #6 of the season. Olmo Rosario has a pair of doubles and a RBI in three trips to the plate. Kyle Haines has a RBI single.
Garrett Broshuis started and went 4 Ip giving up Trenton's three runs on 4 hits. After the rain delay Dave MaKae has come into the game to pitch.

*UPDATE: the game is in another rain delay the top of the 9th with CT. still up 5-3.
**UPDATE II: Defs win 6-3 as sosa drives in Haines with a double in the top of the 9th and sergio Romo strikes out the side in the bottom half of the frame for his 10th save.
Misc fan notes: Congrats to TI for being named EL player of the week! Also Steve (JP) Palazzolo has been promoted to Fresno!

Went to the NB /Altoona game tonight....Curve blew them out. I'm going tomorrow too. If you go to http://www.altoonacurve.com/ you can see highlights from the last two games against the Defenders.

Interesting looking field.

There is a roller coaster in the outfield....

I see Serge struck out the side in the 9th....And TI is flirting with .300.

Hinshaw gave up a few runs tonight...bummer... a lot of ex-defenders in the SF game.

LC...If I can get a seat behind the screen at NB Wed night, be there too.

McKae has been pretty good since going to long relief. I've mixed reaction about JP...happy about the promotion, but he was fun to watch. Hope he finds Humphrey Pennyworth on the coast!

Looks like McNiven is coming back. He's off the Fresno roster and on the Defs. If this is true, I hope Brooks goes into the rotation and Bump goes to the pen.

Considering his recent performances, how appropriate is Sharpless for a name?

Skip, I'll pobably sit right behind the Cuve dugout, at least to start with. It's polish night, Jak sie masz?

I asked Tim Leiper if he could start my man Pedo Powell tonight, hopefully he comes through. Pedro had 67 sb's last year in high A, but hasn't gotten much playing time at all this year. My Bradenton billiards competition Ant Webster had thee hits last night, hopefully he continues on with a big week. If those two are in the lineup I'll be doing some yelling.
