Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

You see this often in sports when...

the star is hurt or in minor bb is promoted the rest of the team, at least in the short term, step ups. Such was the case tonight in the wake of TI's well deserved promotion to Fresno as Connecticut's pitching and team defense along with some timely hitting lifted the Defs to a 4-2 win over the RockCats.
Nate Bump who owns the RockCats (a five inning no no last time out in NB) throws a one hitter over five tonight. Justin Hedrick wingles out of a bases loaded jam and Sergio Romo in a two inning stint gives up a 2 run homer down the left field line to preserve the win.
In the second Dave Maroul's RBI single scored EME who had walked, one of two walks EME drew in the game. In the third Olmo Rosairo (3 for 4) hit a seeing eye single up the middle with two outs with the bases loaded in knock in two runs for a 3-0 CT lead. Ben Copeland hit his league leading 8th triple of the season in the fourth to score Kake Wald who had walked. RockCat pitching gave up 8 walks in the game.
In the field Dave Maroul made a couple of nice plays, Eliezer Alfonzo made a nice catch of a foul pop up against the backstop net, and Ben Copeland made a nice sliding catch in right center.

Misc game notes: Defs will wear Juneteeth Negro League uniforms Saturday. Nice display about the Negro Leagues on the concourse behind the press box. I have to work Saturday...hate when that happens and the team is wearing alternate unis.
Nice crowd tonight 5100 and into the game despite the rain that came down for the middle part of the game. A rare Tater sighting tonight and the snack shack along the RF line was open.
Carlos Sosa back in the lineup.
Who's the backup at first base with TI gone and Klink now the starter there. Witter, Olmo, the return of TVS?

Greg, how could Von Schell return? He's released from the Giants organization. He hasn't been resigned that I don't know about?

somewhere on MCC it was reported that the Giants GM has left the door open a bit for Sandoval to come to CT this season; on the other hand this is the Giants so them buying TVS from York wouldn't exactly shock here either as we're getting into minor bb's silly season in terms of roster moves. This has been the time of year when guys like Quincy Foster, Randy Ruiz, the return of Julio Cordido was up on our shores.

I don't know if he'd accept the offer if the Giants welcomed him back. He already contemplated retirement once.

I was unable to get photos. I apologize. My brother would not lend the camera. The jerseys were grey, and had blue lettering across that said Brooklyn, and the back had blue numbers. And on their left sleeve was some sort of shield thing.

I guess connection to Jackie Robinson? THere was that big green display still there. Not much happened for Juneteenth. All that happened were the alternate jerseys and someone sang a really long song. And nobody could understand what she was saying cause they had problems with the sound system last night. We couldn't hear Johnny either.

He made me and my season ticket holder friends sing take me out to the ballgame....bleh. Lmao.
