Akron wins 4-2 over Defs tonight at Dodd...
as the Aeros take 2 out of three over Connecticut. Dave McKae and Frank Herrmann were locked up in a scoreless pitcher's duel until the top of the sixth when McKae gave up a leadoff infield single and Wes Hodges followed with his 14th home run to make it 2-0 Aeros. Akron added a couple of runs off Ronnie Ray in the 8th on a two run single by Bronson Sardinha to increase their lead to 4-0.
Connecticut rallied for a couple of runs in the bottom half of the inning on RBI singles by EME and Kyle Haines to cut the Aeros lead to 4-2 but that's was all she wrote. McKae falls to 7-8 on the year with a 4.33 ERA and the Defs are now back to the .500 mark.
Misc fan notes: A strange turn of events as it seemed McKae was out of the ballgame after six innings and Jason Waddell came on to warm up for the top of the 7th. Then McKae came back out and Waddell ran off the mound and was getting high fives in the dugout. Turns out Waddell was not listed on the official game roster.

A night of multi "strange goings-ons." 4000 attendance very questionable unless they are beginning to "amortize" 2008 tickets paid for, but not used. Or there were some left over dummies from The Bronx Is Burning that were counted.
Regarding Waddell, Bien or Steamer have to be pretty red-faced. Can't say I ever heard of something like that happening in the past.

HONDO---
THIS HAS BEEN A REMARKABLE YEAR FOR STRANGE / WEIRD THINGS AROUND THIS BALL PARK. IT HAS TO COME AT NO SURPRISE TO YOU THAT THEY ARE & WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. ADDED TO THE FACT THAT SOME VERY, VERY QUALIFIED AND ENERGETIC MEMBERS OF THEIR STAFF HAVE FOUND GREENER PASTURES TO FEED OFF OF IS ALSO EVIDENCE. ADDED TO THAT WOULD BE THE RUMBELINGS FROM SOME OF THE SEASON TICKET HOLDERS OF BEING TREATED AS SECOND-CLASS CITIZENS--
SOME OF THEIR EMPLOYEES (CONCESSION, USHERS & PARKING) BEING TREATED WITH LITTLE OR NO RESPECT---IT IS NOT SURPRISING THAT THIS IS A GO-NOWHERE GROUP AND DOES NOT DESERVE THE BACKING OF NORWICH AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. THANKS, I NEEDED THAT.

Seems like everytime I see Dave pitch, he does very well into the 5th or 6th and then begins to tire. Last night he was consistently ahead in the count until the 6th. I believe the homerun was on a 3-1 count.

I WAS an employee in concessions just this past season (April to July) until I had a run in with the GM. I was on the field during BP one time on a night I was not working. I had players and even Steamer's approval for me to go on the field. Apparently that wasn't good enough for the GM. So I then got off the field.
A few weeks later again when Matos was still with the team, he and others were wanting me to come onto the field and then later on that day a NH reliever. Then I pretty much got the boot bc the GM saw me and got very very upset using many expletives.
When I did work there, we did not get that much respect either.

AAAANNNNDDDDD HONDO-----------
YOU ARE COMPLETELY RIGHT ABOUT THE ATTENDANCE. BUT, AS SEASON LONG TROOPERS, YOU I HAVE SEEN AND COUNTED MANY-MANY-MANY---TOO MANY NIGHTS WHEN YOU CAN EASILY COUNT THE NUMBER OF FANS IN THE STANDS--AND---HAVE THE OFFICIAL ATTENDANCE COME IN ABOUT 1000 MORE. IT DOES SMACK OF TRUTH-IN-ADVERTISING, SORT-OF, BUT, FROM WHAT I AM TOLD ALL OF THE CLUBS (E.L.) ARE DOING THE SAME. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY JUST TOLD THE PUBLIC HOW MANY BODIES WERE SITTING IN THE SEATS! ! !
