Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Defs shut out FisherCats 2-0 tonight....

as five CT pitchers combine on a five hitter. Joe Paterson gets the win and Dan Otero survives a pair of two out singles in the bottom of the 9th to get his second save of the year. Matt Yourkin made his Defs debut throwing 1.1 innings. Daryl Maday started and went 4 innings.
Mike Mooney was the hitting star as he knocked in both Connecticut runs in the top of the ninth. With two outs Adam Witter and Brett Pill both singled, Mooney then doubled home the runs.
Misc player notes: Don't know what's exactly up with the roster is as Yourkin and Garcia are now piching and Griffin and Foppert and have "reassigned" status.

This was done all last year in San Jose as two pitchers at a time would be "shuttled" back-and-forth to "extended spring training".

I'm a little concerned about Brad Boyer. He tore up the Cal League last season but is yet to get a hit this year. I checked the recap for Tuesday and it says he lined out three times. Just wondering how he looks.

I enjoy reading your blog each night. It helps me keep track of what is going on back there.

I've got some good news and bad news...
The good: Justin Hedrick pitched las t night for Portland and got the save.

The bad news: He struggled, 2 walks then gave up a 2 run hit....his e.r.a is 18:00...

He will settle in, it will be bitter/sweet seeing him in a few weeks....
