Out at home! Mike Mooney's outfield assist
throwing out the potential tying run at home to end the game in the bottom of the 9th preserves CT's 3-2 win in Trenton tonight. Mooney also got the job done with the bat doubling home the Defs first run in the third inning.
Mooney's throw made a winner of starter Henry Sosa (1-0). Sosa threw 5 innings giving up 5 hits and two earned runs. Waldis Joaquin relieved Sosa and had his best outing of the season throwing 3 innings of no hit ball before giving way to Dan Otero (save #4) and the ninth innings heroics of Mooney.
Connecticut won the game in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs. With no outs CT loaded the bases on a walk and singles by Sharlon Schoop and a bunt single by AR. A passed ball tied the game at 2-2 and Brad Boyer's ground out put CT in the lead 3-2.
Ct managed just seven hits in the game and had three runners caught stealing along with a runner picked off.
