Glad I worked tonight...Defs lose 9-0 as...
Jesse Foppert (0-3) walked 7 in 3 innings along with 4 hits, one a homer, and six runs--five earned as the RockCats romped at Dodd. CT could muster only 6 hits--Brock Bond and Brandon Crawford with two hits each in the game.
Misc fan notes: Notice that Tyler Latorre was at third? What's with that? Brad Boyer was back in the lineup as DH coming off his injurt. Poor crowd tonight--jsu 1400--come on folks!

A question asked of me tonight that I couldn't answer.
Ground ball hit to Schoop at third; he turns to make the throw to second for the force; throw is never made, he holds the ball. Play is scored an error on Schoop. Question is why? It was an error of omission, but why was it scored a fielding error? This is not a trick question. It was asked of me by someone a helluva smarter then any of us and he didn't have an answer. Anyone care to weigh in?

Perhaps it falls under the category of: you have to rule it an error 'cuz you can't rule it a hit.

Greg, Brock Bond appeared to hurt himself sliding into second base, so LaTorre came off the bench to play 3B and Schoop moved over to 2B.
