Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Our (my) future....

"The Class A Short-Season New York-Penn League kicks off on June 19 and MiLB.com takes a close look at what 2009 could bring for each league. Here's a team-by-team analysis of what you might find.
The New York-Penn League has long offered the chance to catch high-round Draft picks and newly signed college standouts trying to make good in their first year in the pros. In many cases, this is where players truly begin to blossom.

With the possibility that talent like the Mets' Sam Honeck, Toronto's Jonathan Fernandez and Boston's Alex Wilson will be headed to New York-Penn League teams, this season should be no exception.

Here's a team-by-team look at what you can expect in the New York-Penn League in 2009:"

If you want to read the rest go to milb.com where this is posted.

I've seen 30 Defenders games so far this season; next season this time I could be working on game one (MAYBE)...sigh...I guess something will be better than nothing....

In other misc stuff, Dave Maroul is alive and well in playing in SJ. With Adam Witter returning to Dodd last week from Fresno and the return of Ben Copeland from the A's causing Tyler Graham to go from Fresno to SJ no one that was promoted out of Norwich has stuck so far this season in a higher level.
Good Luck Jesse Foppert ( pictured, 0-3 6.27 ERA in 33 IP) we hardly knew you...

It's also Juneteeth Day that commemorates the end of slavery. Defs worn special jerseys in '07 to mark the day as Simon Klink is fondly remembered. Plenty of these are for sale in Cutter's Corner for $50 (note: time for a markdown).

Yeah I was gunna get one of those jerseys, but they've been $50 for a while...might as well start at $75 for recent players jerseys...hence I only have Ty's batting jersey from what like 06'?
