Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Dating myself again...... an old NY Giant favorite, Dusty Rhodes has passed away. Best known for his heroics in the 1954 World Series, the last series win for the Giants, it's amazing he reached 82 years. Dusty enjoyed the night life. His '54 series was enough to earn him the #1 card in Topps 1955 baseball card set. His '54 season was a career year. I saw at least two walk off wins for the Giants thanks to a Dusty PH. RIP guy, you certainly earned it. There was a quote attributed to him today..... "I was never sick a day in my life until I quit drinking."

Well, Hondo's off to crack open the bottle of Jim Beam.

Hondo,
Didn't Dusty's career with the Giants overlap Hartung's or did Hartung play a couple of years later?

AR fan,

Hartung was with the team 1947- 1952 and Dusty 1952-1959. They may not have been on the team at the same time in 1952 because Clint only played in a few games, like 30+/- and Dusty like 70+/-. I really don't recall Dusty until the '54 season.
