Good Luck to Antoan Richardson and Brooks McNiven..
who were released late last week.
Antoan Richardson (aka... AR, Ant, Flash) and Brooks were both good guys but time and numbers simply caught up with them.
As readers see in the "Blasts from the Past" (BFTB) series running here they're not the first and they wouldn't be the last. I know AR had a big impact on at least one local family and those close connections in minor league ball that can happen between player and fan is something special and will be missed around here when the franchise moves.

Toan was one of the best class acts and always took time to be with the fans.
He will be remembered for a very long time

Brooks left his Vancouver Canucks Rally Towel in the Defenders Clubhouse few days ago. But I have it safe at home to return it to him by mail.

THIS AIN'T GOOD
Pitching woes for the Def's. Otero left Sunday's game with a twinge in his elbow, going to be reevaluated. Decker sticking to a six man rotation. Geivy Garcia starting tonight.
Decker wasn't understating the predicament when he said "We need help."
Anyone know where Brian Anderson is?

Thanks for the pic, Greg! When are the 2009 team sets coming out? Gotta get my last Antoan card....at least in a Def's uniform.

Antoan is the definition of a class act. He has always been a friendly face this year that I love talking to, and he is a genuinely good guy. I will miss talking to him after home games, but I wish him the best of luck. I can't wait to see him play on a major league field. Any team would be lucky to have him. Mark my words, this will not be the last time you hear from Antoan Richardson.

Otero went on the DL, Shane Kaufman and Steve Calicutt promoted from Augusta/S-K

how bout promoting some hitters?!?
9:44 PM
Calicutt: 2.25 ERA in minors this year, lefty, .083 vs righties, .364 vs lefties, in 8 innings
Kaufman: 4.89 ERA in 25 games...come on, really? .146avg vs left, .295 vs righties

Hondo - we've been wondering where Brian Anderson is too ... last someone told me "he played on the Canadian Olympics baseball team," but I never checked.
Greg - thx for the update on Antoan [maybe he'll return and get his Engineering degree???] and Brooks; loved watching Antoan steal bases at Muni - and such a really nice guy too!
