Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

If my team had 17 hits I'd expect to win...

but I'm not an Erie SeaWolves fan as despite those 17 hits CT pulls out the win in extra innings for the second straight night 6-5.
In the bottom of the 10th Brad Boyer tripled with one out. Brett Pill was walked. Mike Mooney hit a grounder to the Erie second baseman whose throw home was missed by the Erir catcher and Boyer scored the winning run.
CT trailed in the game 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth but rallied for four runs to take the lead. Jackson Williams walked, Brock Bond singled and a wild pitch moved up both runners. Mike McBryde hit a RBI ground out to make it 4-2. Boyer then singled. Pill crushed a double down the left field line to score both runners and tie the game with Pill taking third on an error. Those were RBIs #91 and #92 for Brett. EME then scored Pill with a sac fly to give CT a 5-4 lead.
Erie would tie the game up off Joe Paterson in the 8th setting up extra innings.
CT starting pitcher GB didn't have much tonight giving up 11 hits but surprisingly just three runs in 5 IP thanks to some solid defense behind him. The above pics show the end result of a McBryde to Brandon Crawford to Jackson Williams relay to cut down a run at home in the top of the second. Bobby Felmy had a circus catch in the third up against the left field wall on a long drive.
CT used a lot of the bullpen tonight as Dan Griffin (a run allowed on a wild pitch), Craig Whitaker, JoePat, Shane Kaufman and Matt Yourkin all pitched. Yourkin gets the win with 2 IP and improves to 5-1 on the season.
Brad Boyer goes 4 for 5 and Brock Bond goes 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored as the Baby B's carried a big load tonight.

Misc fan notes: Ben Snyder will start on Sunday. No idea why.
Always great seeing Joe Perez at the park.

I have no idea how we managed to win this game.
Boyer was making me freak out with his base running tonight. Pill came through again tonight with the key double!
I still have no idea why Griffin is here, it just upsets me every time he is pitching.
Great to see another one run win, at home, via walkoff!

I stopped by the gift shop afterwards and saw the things that I think are the $5 jerseys that Greg previously mentioned. They look somewhat like yellow tanktops? With black numbers on black, I believe.
They had 14,31,26,47, and 51. can anyone identify those numbers from the year they were worn? Thanks!

Magic #: 16

In case you didn't know Greg, Erie just signed the former Defenders pitcher Jason Waddell to a minor league contract after making three appearances with the Chicago Cubs this year.
