Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Brett Pill.....

another blog fav, Brett is now hitting .312 (29 for 93) with 9 doubles, 3 HRs and 14 RBIs. Brett got off to a slow start this season, like last season's as well, but is heating up now.
Kelly, any fresh pics you can send?

Greg,

if you are looking for Grizzlies photos, check out Dave Nelson's Flickr photostream.

Dave used to shoot the SJ Giants, then moved to Fresno last year.

O.K., that was me who deleted the comment. (I always wonder why people do that! HaHa!) I had made a comment about there only being a few Grizzlie photos, THEN checked the site. Wow, there are tons of them. I remember a lot of San Jose ones a few years ago, but relied on Greg for the Connecticut ones. Welcome to Fresno, Dave Nelson!! Very nice pictures.

Not to drag this on, but what exactly is the purpose of flickr.com? Basically to "share" photos for viewing? Or can you purchase any of them. Just curious.

Kelly--you can share pictures for all to see as Mr. Nelson has been good enough to do; no purchase required.

As a long-time Flickr user, let me try to answer that. Flickr is a place to store and show images online.

For me it is a place to archive my images and have easy access to them. My blogging composer (MarsEdit) allows me to quickly search my Flickr archive and add images to my blog posts.

It also allows me to show off low resolution images of my work.

As for using/sharing/purchasing images, that depends on the person uploading the images and the copyright/license they apply to the images.

For most of my images I apply a license that allows for non-commercial use as long as the user provides attribution (as Greg did with Dave's shots of Brett).

Dave's images are fully copyrighted, so you need to ask him for permission to use/print them. He may put a price on their use.

He may also offer higher quality copies or prints at a price.

If you like Dave's images and would like to use them or purchase prints, etc. You need to ask him.

Thanks Greg and Tom - great explanations. I have purchased pictures in the past, but they are kind of stacking up here! I think it's great you let people share your pictures as long as they acknowledge the photographer. They are really awesome shots. Thanks!
