Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Well, I still have no idea what the "official"....

roster looks like. There will be an open practice at 7PM to the public tonighr. I'm working tonight so hopefully Joe Perez and/or Steve Hamel will be there for on site reporting. Check out Joe's Tiger Beat blog and Steve's Connecticut Tiger Den blog (links on the right) for updates as well as the Tigers webpage. Another source is TigsTown.com. It has what appears to be an unofficial roster up now.

A rare mistake by the RockCats using the RFS logo in a tv ad for tonight's DH. NB is hosting another EL team tonight and not our beloved ex-Defs.

Their practice started earlier than 7PM because of an up coming inclement weather heading our way. So is there another team practice coming up before they have to travel to Troy, NY this Friday?

Indeed, it was scheduled media time from 3-5pm, but they ended around 4, and then went into their practice.
I spoke with the hitting coach today and he said they're looking good "out there" so that's a good sign for the Tigers.

There is a practice set for 2pm tomorrow, I believe

I was talking to a person "in the know" last night at New Britain, and he explained that it could be a couple of weeks (or longer) into the season before the roster begins to take shape. I was told this is standard operating procedure for every ML team.

I'm waiting to see if that closer who averages 8 plus walks per inning is here. If this stat is even remotely close to fact, this guy will make it look like Steve Dalkowski was a control pitcher.

Hondo, I assume you are referring to Melvin Mercedes. He had Tommy John surgery less than a week ago, so he won't be pitching for awhile.
