Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Tigers double up Cyclones 6-3 this afternoon...

at a hot and steamy Dodd Stadium and even the three game set at a game each. Josue Carreno went 5 inning and gave up all three Brooklyn runs thanks to a three run bomb by Cory Vaughn in the fourth inning; his 13th of the short season. Miguel Mejia relieved Carreno and just lights out allowing just one hit over the next four innings while striking out 6 batters. Carreno improves to 5-6 and Mejia gets his second save. CT will wait the game results of Vermont and Tri-City whose games start later on today.
Tigers scored four runs in the first three innings. a two run double by Josh Ashenbrenner put CT up 2-0 after the first. The Tigers added a run in the second on a Brooklyn error and added another in the third when J-Rod tripled and scored on Ashenbrenner's sac fly.
CT added some insurance runs in the sixth inning after Vaughn's blast had made the score 4-3. Matt Perry singled in one run and Ryan Soares added a sac fly to close out the scoring at 6-3.

Misc fan notes. A hot one at Dodd as the game was played in a just two hours before 1700 fans.

Special thanks to Jon Versteeg, Director of Media Relations who provided me with a photo pass for the game. Took a ton of pics that will provide this humble blog plenty of pics for the off season as I will continue the picture of the day (POTD) format.

Picture is today's hitting star Josh Ashenbrenner who had 3 RBIs on the day.
