ValleyCats win 3-2 to sweep the Tigers and
jump into second place in the the division. The loss also drops the Tigers to a game under .500. Were we not just in first place?
RBI doubles by Brett Anderson and Matt Perry accounted for CT's scoring. Brennan Smith (0-5) takes another hard luck loss in a game played in just over two hours.
Misc fan notes: really looking forward to the Yankees coming to town for the next three games!

And the former tenants at Dodd took it on the chin at New Britain, losing all three games. A few Def alumni made appearances, albeit none distinguished themselves. Of the pitchers, Daryl Maday got pounded, Mitch Lively walked two of the three hitters he faced, and Ronnie Ray looked good in two appearances. Of the hitters Boyer, Timpner, and LaTorre ... no one looked good. The team does have hitting though, but the pitching looks weak.
Is Dodd working its magic on the Tiger hitters or are they stinko? I wasn't impressed in my lone appearance this season. Curious why all the Tiger draft picks are in the GCL? Mayhaps the Detroit braintrust believes the horror stories about Dodd?

All of the Tigers hitters are in a long slump right now.

I've heard the Ct Tigers like Dodd and until this week long slump their home record was pretty good.
The scoreless innings and shut out losses recall the Defs of a certain era.
The point about the GCL is a good one as the NYPL team seems to be a limbo of sorts beween the GCL and a quick trip up to single A ball.
A rare sweep by the RockCats...three wins in a row might be a high water mark for NB this season
