Thoughts and pictures of my local minor league baseball team the New York Penn League Connecticut Tigers; a Detriot farm team. We'll still be looking at former Navigators/Defenders players along the way....

Wow! UConn in the tournament at Clemson. Do not know enough about them to predict how they will do.

Wasn't Colon a nice pick up for the Yankees?

Gio Gonzalez. a former Phils prospect, will go against the Yankees in Game 3 in Oakland. He was with Reading when Michael Bourne was there.

I knew there was a reason I kept my scorebooks!

April 26, 2006

Reading 8
Ct 2

Gio Gonzalez was Reading's starter going 6.1 inn, 2 hits, no runs, 3 bb's & 6 K's,

Phils had a 6 run ninth, courtesy of Joe Bateman & Matt Palmer. Ct had 4 singles, one each by EME, Sisk (WHO?), Von Schell, & Nate.

My game notes were: Lousy game. Bateman & hitting sucked again. This is getting bad.

Now I'm assuming that the Gio Gonzalez with the A's is one and the same who I saw pitch the long ago game. He was highly thought of by the Phils, but I don't think he ever pitched an inning for them.

Confirmed

Gio was in the Phillie org for 2006 and assigned to Reading all year. The next year he was in the A's org.
Don't know how he got there.

Sisk is Aaron Sisk, a former utility infielder. Gio was drafted by White Sox, traded to the Phils in the Jim Thome deal, traded back to the ChiSox in the Freddy Garcia deal, and then traded to the A's for Nick Swisher
